Jag har testat Atelier Rouge – är de verkligen så dåliga?

Jag har testat Atelier Rouge nagellack och jag är kärringen mot strömmen. På mig sitter lacken nämligen riktigt bra. Nej kvaliteten på lacken är inte den absolut bästa jag testat men jag upplever den inte alls så dålig som många andra verkar göra.

Atelier Rouge är ett av Kicks nya egna märken. Märket gör nagellack och nageltillbehör som t.ex. filar. 

Linnea testade ju Atelier Rouges lack för ett tag sedan och var långt ifrån imponerad (läs här). Hon bad mig sedan att testa hennes lack för att se hur de skulle sitta på mina naglar. Sagt och gjort. Jag har testat och jag har alltså testat exakt samma lack som Linnea testade. 

Jag har hyfsad nagelkvalité även om naglarnas skötsel har försummats lite sedan jag fick min lilla dotter. 

På mig sitter lacken från Atelier Rouge fint i 5-7 dagar. Det är möjligt att det gått att förlänga tiden lite ytterligare om jag hade orkat bättra på överlacket varannan eller var tredje dag. När lacket väl har börjat chippa är det dags att måla om naglarna för när det väl börjat chippa går det fort utför. Precis som Linnea har jag inget tillhörande bas- och överlack så jag har använt två tunna lager Depend PT Ridgefiller under och ett tunt lager Depend PT fast drying top coat när jag testat dessa.

De är väldigt olika formula på lacken. Färgen Atelier Rouge är lite tjockare medan de övriga jag har testat är rätt tunna och rinniga. Lacken är ingen dröm att måla med men jag har inte heller några problem att lacka med dem.

Flaskornas design är gullig och ger härliga retrovibbar. Den lilla tillplattade benvita korken ger bra grepp men tyvärr händer det att den lossnar och den smala ”innerkorken” är inte alls lika trevlig att hålla i. 

Efter att ha hört Jessica och Linnea ha synpunkter på hållbarheten hos Atelier Rouges lack måste jag säga att jag faktiskt blev positivt överraskad över hur bra de faktiskt satt på mig. Finns det bättre lack därute? Definitivt,  men lackat enligt konstens alla regler så är hållbarheten i alla fall helt ok på mina naglar. 

Atelier Rouge säger själva att man ska måla lacken i 2 tjocka lager. Den var ny för mig men sjävklart har jag testat även detta. Du hittar en How-to i bland highlightsen på deras Instagram om du är nyfiken på att se en liten mini tutorial. Att lacken ska appliceras på det här sättet framgår även om du köper lacken på nätet. Bon Voyage här ovan är målat i två tjockare lager. Trots tjockare lager blev resultatet jämnt och snyggt. Har inte upplevt att någon av nyanserna jag har testat har blivit bubbliga på nageln som Kajsa upplevde. När jag lackade två tjockare lager istället för två tunna som jag normalt gör satt dessa ännu bättre. 

Hur du gör: 

1. Tvätta dina naglar från olja och smuts. Använd tvål eller/och nagellacks remover och låt torka.
2. Applicera baslack och låt torka.
3. Doppa borsten till ditt Atelier Rouge lack och dra av nagellack från en sida av borsten.
4. Applicera ett tjock lager av ditt Atelier Rouge nagellack och låt torka i 1-2 minuter.
5. Applicera ett till lager enligt samma princip som ovan.
6. Avsluta med överlack. 

Det jag upplevde var nyckeln till att få dessa lack att sitta var att antingen måla lite tjockare lager enligt märkets egna instruktioner (se ovan) eller att se till att försegla lacket längst ut i toppen. När du målat nageln tar du pyttelite lack på borsten och målar längst ut på framkanten av nageln. Har du långa naglar kan du även ta lite under nageln. Glöm inte att även försegla med överlack på samma sätt. När jag målade lite tjockare lager enligt märkets instruktioner satt de faktiskt bra även utan att jag målade längst ut på framkanten av nageln. 

Man kan förstås fundera över varför man valt att skapa ett nagellack med en formula som kräver instruktioner för applicering. Jag misstänker att de flest av oss har fått lära oss att applicera nagellack i tunna lager och jag tänker att konsumenter kanske inte läser instruktioner för hur ett vanligt nagellack ska appliceras? Jag vet att jag i alla fall inte gjorde det. Jag råkade av en slump se deras How to på Instagram men det är det kanske inte alla som gör. 

Det kan vara väldigt individuellt hur bra nagellack sitter, t.ex. beroende på din nagelkvalitét. En del tycker inte att något lack sitter bra hur noggranna de än är vid lackningen. Personligen upplever jag inte alls att lacken från Atelier Rouge skulle sitta speciellt dåligt. De är inte de bästa lack jag testat men på mig sitter de lika bra som många andra märken. 

Jag kan tänka mig att köpa lack från märket om det skulle vara någon färg jag är sugen på.  Jag funderar faktiskt redan på att slå till på några av nyanserna från Fall 2020 Ready To Wear Limited  Edition kollektionen. 

Visst är det intressant hur olika produkter kan fungera för olika personer? Vad som funkar på mig kanske inte alls funkar för dig och vice versa.

I have tried a new nail polish brand that’s gotten a lot of criticism for chipping and wearing of really easy but that’s not something I experienced. No, the quality of these nail polishes is not the best but I do not experience them to be nearly as bad as many others seem to think they are. 

Atelier Rouge is one of Kick’s new in house brands.  The brand makes nail polish and nail accessories such as nail files. 

I have decent nail quality even though I have neglected to care for the nails a bit since I had my little daughter.

The polishes from Atelier Rouge stays on me nicely for 5-7 days before they start to wear off.  It is possible that it would have been possible to extend the time a little further than that if I had reapplied top coat every two or three days.  I don’t have a base and topcoat from the beans so I have used two thin coats of Depend PT Ridgefiller underneath and one thin coat of Depend PT fast drying top coat when I tried these.

The shades all have very different formula.  The color L’ Atelier Rouge is a little thicker while the others I have tried are quite thin and runny.  The polishes are no dream to paint with, but I don’t have any problem working with them either. 

The design of the bottles is cute and gives off a lovely retro vibe.  The small flattened off-white cork gives good grip, but unfortunately it happens that it comes loose and the narrow ”inner cork” is not as pleasant to hold.

After hearing others complain about the bad durability of Atelier Rouge’s nail polishes, I must say that I was actually pleasantly surprised at how well they actually sat on me.  Is there better nail polishes out there?  Definitely, but painted according to all the rules of art, the durability is at least completely ok on my nails.

Atelier Rouge themselves say that you should apply the polishes in 2 thick coats.  That was a new one to me but of course I have also tried this.  You will find a How-to among the highlights on their Instagram page if you are curious to watch a tutorial.  That the polish is supposed to be applied in this way is also stated if you buy them from Kicks website.  Bon Voyage and Rebellion here above is both painted in two thicker coats.  Despite thicker coats, the result was nice and even.  I haven’t not experienced that any of the shades I have tried have become bubbly on the nails.  When I painted these polishes in two thicker coats instead of two thin coats as I normally do, the durability was even better.

How to: 

1. Wash your nails from oil and dirt.  Use soap and / or nail polish remover and let dry.
2. Apply base coat and allow to dry
3. Dip the brush into your Atelier Rouge polish and strike off the nail polish from one side of the brush.
4. Apply a thick coat of your Atelier Rouge nail polish and let it dry for 1-2 minutes.
5. Apply another coat according to the same principle as above.
6. Finish with topcoat.

What I experienced was the key to getting these polishes to stay on the nail longer before they started to wear off was to either paint a little thicker coat according to the brand’s own instructions (see above) or to make sure to seal the polish at the tip of the nail.  When you have painted the nail, apply a small amount if polish on the brush and paint on the front edge of the nail.  If you have long nails, you can also apply a little under the nail.  Do not forget to also seal with topcoat in the same way.  When I painted a little thicker coats according to the brand’s instructions, the durability was even better even without me needing to seal it at the nail tip. 

You can of course ask why you would chose to create a nail polish with a formula that requires instructions for application.  I suspect that most of us have been taught to apply nail polish in thin coats and I think consumers may not read instructions on how to apply a regular nail polish?  I know I didn’t.  I just happened to see their How to on Instagram, but not everyone might do that. 

The durability of a nail polish can be very individual, e.g.  depending on your nail quality.  Personally, I do not feel at all that the polishes from Atelier Rouge is that bad when it comes to durability.  They are not the best polishes I have tried, but on me they sit just as well as many other brands do.

I could definitely buy polishes from this brand if there is any color I am craving.  I’m actually already thinking about buying some of the shades from the Fall 2020 Ready To Wear Limited Edition collection.

Isn’t it interesting how different products can work for different people?  What works for me may not work for you at all and vice versa.
